The Punjab Public School, Nabha celebrated its 62nd Founders’ Day on October 21, 2022. The proceedings got underway with the arrival of the chief guest Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab & Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh and Chairman, the School Board of Governors. He took the salute and inspected the Guard of Honour. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma conducted the assembly and presented School Report. While presenting the Headmaster’s Report, Dr Sharma profusely thanked the patrons of the school for rendering all possible help for the growth of the institution over the years. Mr Pritam Singh Gill was conferred the highly prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The Award of Roll of Honour was conferred on Shri Suman Kant Munjal (S-165), an alumnus of PPS Nabha of 1969 Batch. President’s Championship Trophy for Senior Cock House for the year 2020 was lifted by Jumna House. On this occasion, Junior School boys put up a grand aerobics display. The School Band put up an immaculate performance. PPS riders stole the show with their splendid performance. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Purohit complimented the staff and students for putting up an excellent show. He said he was impressed with the highly disciplined students of the school. He appealed to them to cultivate the right values which form the basis for a highly successful life. Proposing the vote of thanks, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma expressed his gratitude to Shri Purohit for sharing nuggets of wisdom with the students and assured him the school will do its level best to come up to his expectations.
Shri Jai Singh Gill, IAS (Retd), President, Executive Committee, the Board of Governors, Lt Gen TK Sapru, PVSM, YSM (Retd) and Member of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors, Dr Sumer Singh, the renowned educationist, First Lady Dr Anita Sharma and other prominent dignitaries were present on the occasion.
A day prior on October 20, Shri Umesh Munjal, Managing Director of Highway Industries Limited (Hero Group) presided over the Variety Entertainment Programme. Orchestra, English Play–The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, Folk Dance (Kalbelia), Giddha and Bhangra enthralled everyone present. It was followed by Prize Giving. Shri Munjal gave away prizes for academic and co-curricular activities. Seventeen (17) teachers were given Headmaster’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. The members of the Golden Jubilee ISC Batch of 1972 were felicitated on the occasion. They donated a trophy for the “All-Round Best Sports Girl of the Year” in the fond memory of Captain Harpal Singh (R-173) martyred in Sri Lanka while fighting LTTE. Proposing the vote of thanks, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma thanked Shri Munjal for sparing some time from his busy schedule to make it to the function. He presented Shri Munjal with a token of deeply felt respect and gratitude.
