The 78th Independence Day was celebrated at The Punjab Public School with great fervour and enthusiasm. The proceedings got underway with the arrival of the chief guest Mr Jatinder Singh Aulakh, IPS and currently the Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission. All the three wings of the NCC were in attendance. Mr Aulakh, an alumnus of PPS, hoisted the tri-colour to the delight of everyone present and inspected the guard of honour. Chehac Kaur, Mannat Tangri and Ishmeet Kaur expressed their thoughts on the relevance of the day in English, Hindi and Punjabi respectively. Two patriotic songs Vande matram and Jaag utha hai saara vatan saathiyon by the school choir lent a new feel to the atmosphere. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Aulakh called upon the student community to nurture the values of discipline, integrity and character. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma proposed the vote of thanks and gave the chief guest a token of deeply felt respect and gratitude.
