The PPS community bade farewell to Dr Rakesh Alfred on June 11, 2021. In a brief ceremony organised at Senior School Library, Mr Alfred was given a silver plaque by Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Alfred reminisced about his varied experiences at PPS with inputs for making life better and richer. Mr Ankur Samuel Birkett, Bursar was also present.
Dr Alfred took over as the Deputy Headmaster on July 25, 2017. Prior to joining PPS, he worked as English master at Mayo College, Ajmer. His suave and genial personality endeared him to students in no time. His 4-year stint will go down in the annals of PPS as one full of challenges. Not only did he work efficiently in handling many IPSC events in close collaboration with Dr Jagpreet Singh but also worked shoulder to shoulder with Mr Ajay Singh during the critical phase of Covid induced lockdowns and in running classes smoothly with safely protocols in place. He invested heavily in imparting communication skills to students by giving marathon talks during morning assemblies both in Junior and Senior School and motivated them to overcome their inhibitions. His command over the language and multifarious interests in literature, sports, adventure and philosophy helped him firm up a lasting bond with them. His knack of motivating learners to explore on their own is worth emulating. His inimitable style of leadership solved problems with a gesture and a gentle word here and there.
We wish Mr Alfred the very best for his new assignment as Principal of St Xavier’s School, Gurgaon. Our loss is Xavier’s gain.
