A week-long athletics events as part of the Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet at The Punjab Public School concluded on Saturday. It was the first major event organised by the school since the onset of corona in 2020. Divjot, Sarthak and Kanav shared the honour for the Best Athlete (Boys) in Section-A. Guriqbal Singh and Kabir Singh were adjudged the Best Athletes in Section-B and Section-C respectively. In Section-A and B (Girls), Harsimrat Kaur and Vishavjeet Kaur were declared the Best Athletes. Sher Jung Singh Chahal Memorial Trophy for the Best House in March Past at Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet presented by Batch of ICSE-1995 went to Ravi House. Inter-House Athletics Trophy for Junior Girls and Senior Girls went to Ravi House. Inter-House Athletics Trophy for Junior Houses donated by Brig Jang Shamsher Singh and Independent Armoured Brigade in 1961 was bagged by Sutlej House. Inter-House Athletics Trophy for Middle Houses donated by Mr Kuljinder Singh Sahota (Old Nabhaite Ex J-203) was lifted by Jumna House. Inter-House Athletics Trophy for Senior Houses donated by Air Marshal Dilbagh Singh AOC-in-C Western Command in 1980 went to Beas House. Harpreet Singh Memorial Inter-House Overall Athletics Championship Trophy for Boys was lifted by Beas House. The chief guest Dr Gunmeet Bindra, Director Principal, Delhi Public School, Rajpura gave away prizes and trophies to winners. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bindra emphasised the need to make sports an integral part of education. She said the best of decision-making is learnt on the playing fields. Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh gave Dr Bindra a token of deeply felt respect and gratitude. Proposing the vote of thanks, Mr Singh said it was important to realise how sports truly shape your character. He expressed his gratitude to Dr Bindra for sparing some time from her busy schedule to be amongst students at PPS. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur and Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett were also present.
