Nabhaites make the most of lockdown induced Round Square Postcard activities

The lockdown has not dampened the ever-spirited response of the Nabhaites to any call for Round Square activities. Being a responsible global member of the esteemed body, the boys and girls of The Punjab Public School, Nabha exhibited a keen interest in all aspects of online initiatives undertaken in the recent past under the supervision of the Round Square Representative, Mrs Tanuja Singh.

1. ‘Act of Kindness’ hosted by St Clement’s School, Toronto, Canada
On 28th May 2020, St Clement’s School, Canada organised a Zoom meeting in which students and teachers from 15 Round Square schools took part. The schools were from South Africa, Germany, Chile, Peru, the UK, Argentina, Colombia, Canada and India. Ekamjot Singh, Gurmanpreet Singh and Arnav Dua were the students from PPS, Nabha.
The students from all over the world shared their acts of kindness. The keynote speakers kicked off the call before the participants moved into breakout rooms for barazza discussions. It was any eye-opener for all to know the extent to which people would go to help others.

2. ‘Welcome to Tokyo’ by Keime Gakuen, Japan
On 10th June 2020, students from Keimei Gakuen and RS Rep Mari Sekine hosted Zoom Postcard “Welcome to Tokyo” and shared interesting facts and quizzes about different aspects of Japanese culture including Places, Music, Anime, Pet Cafes, Origami, Food and Shopping.
They were joined on the call by more than 100 students from 16 schools from the Round Square community worldwide. The schools were from China, the UK, South Africa, Japan, Colombia, Australia and India.
Gurmanpreet Singh Saran, Antra Gill, Manveer Kaur, Gursimran Kaur, Shivam Virk, Gurnoor Pahwa, Ekamveer Singh, Krishna Jindal, Naina Bath and Pramita Ranu participated from PPS, Nabha.

3. ‘Let’s Talk Together’ hosted by Jr and Sr High School Kogakuin University, Japan
On 17th June 2020, Jr and Sr High School Kogakuin University, Japan hosted Zoom Postcard “Let’s Talk Together” and shared how people from different parts of the world spent their leisure time.
More than 70 participants from 15 schools in Japan, Pakistan, Australia, Jordan, Colombia, India, Peru and the USA joined in online. They were asked to share in advance the call photos or written examples of the things they do, or the places they go to with their friends in their free time. On the call, the hosts shared their contributions and invited participants to talk about their photographs and experiences before taking questions about life in Japan.
They found out how social activities have transformed over the years in Japan, learned about participants’ passion for roller skating, dance, keeping fit, going to the beach, painting, going to see movies, sports, horse riding, pets, crafts, music, community service and much more. They discovered a shared love of playing chess, eating and reading, were introduced to a pet dog and discovered differences and similarities in our social activities and behavioural patterns.
Ekamveer Singh, Gursimran Kaur, Shivam Virk and Pramita Ranu participated from PPS, Nabha.

4. ‘Experiences of Digital School’ hosted by Realschule Gut Warnberg, Germany
Realschule Gut Warnberg, Germany hosted a fantastic RS Zoom postcard on Digital School. The students sent in photographs and short comments in advance about what their experience of Digital School had looked and felt like, which were discussed on the call before participants finally split into five barazza groups to firm up their perceptions.
The students from 14 schools participated in the call. The hosts comprised Gut Warnberg Schule (Germany), along with, St. George’s College (Peru), The Punjab Public School (India), Keimei Gakuen (Japan), KC Public School (India), Chittagong Grammar School (Bangladesh), Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School (India), San Silvestre School (Peru), Sunbeam School Lahartara (India), The Indian School Al-Ghubra (Oman), Chanderbala Modi Academy (India), The Doon School (India), Dhirubhai Ambani International School (India), and Vidya Devi Jindal School (India).
Gursimran Kaur, Naina Bath, Ishmeet Kaur and Ananya Suryavanshi attended this postcard activity.
