Major General Sanjiv Varma, VSM (Retd), Director, Yadavindra Public School, Patiala inaugurated the 54th All India IPSC (U-19) Athletics Meet for Boys & Girls-2017 at The Punjab Public School, Nabha on October 23, 2017. In his address to the participating teams, he urged the athletes to compete hard but to adhere to the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.
15 schools in the boys’ category and 12 schools in the girls’ category will compete in various track and field events to vie for the Championship Trophy. The Punjab Public School has lifted the boys’ trophy for five successive years since 2012 while The Lawrence School, Ooty has lifted the girls’ trophy for six successive years since 2011. It remains to be seen if the winning streak continues or there will be a major shake-up this time.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jagpreet Singh, Headmaster, The Punjab Public School and Director Sports, Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC) said that hosting IPSC Athletics was logistically the most challenging of all events and the fact that PPS is hosting it for the tenth year in a row since 2008 speaks volumes of its infrastructure and its organisational finesse.
