“The school must be an extension of home. There must be concordance between the impressions which a child gathers at home and at school, if the best results are to be obtained”.
Mahatma Gandhi
Closely following the vision of Bapu, an eminent philosopher of education, Punjab Public School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in a Special Assembly on his 148th birth anniversary. Remembering him on the occasion as a great leader who was much ahead of time and played a key role in shaping the future of modern India, students read out the significance of this day. School Choir presented two bhajans ‘Raghupati Raghav’ and ‘Vaishnav Jaynto’.
It was followed by a presentation showcasing the life and struggles of Mahatma Gandhi.
In his brief speech to the gathering, Headmaster appealed to the student community to make their hearts, minds and souls swacch (clean). Dr Singh urged everyone to be clean in the real sense of the word. He asked everyone present to practise the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi which made him famous.
