PPS celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The 75^th anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated at The Punjab Public School with great fervour and enthusiasm. The proceedings got underway with the arrival of the chief guest Commander, 1 Armoured Brigade and Station Commander for Nabha and Sangrur Brig Rajesh Nambiar at the Headmaster’s Green. All the three wings of the NCC were in attendance. Brig Nambiar hoisted the national tri-colour to the delight of everyone present and inspected the guard of honour. The scene shifted to the Pavate Hall. Kudrat Pandher, Garima Tayal and Hirdayjeet Singh expressed their thoughts on the relevance of the day in English, Hindi and Punjabi respectively. Two patriotic songs-Vande Matram and We shall overcome by the school choir lent a new feel to the atmosphere. Speaking on the occasion, Brig Nambiar said patriotism is not necessarily exhibited by wearing uniform. Patriotism does not involve taking risks; risks are educated decisions, he said. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma, First Lady Dr (Mrs) Anita Sharma, Prof & Head, Department of English, ICC Indore, Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur, Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett and Head, Junior Wing Mrs Ruby Verma were present.
