The 78th IPSC Principals’ Conclave was formally inaugurated at The Punjab Public School by His Excellency Shri VP Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh on December 3, 2017. 38 Principals from the leading public schools of the country along with Executive, Honorary and Trust Members of the Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC) are part of the Conclave. Welcoming the chief guest, Cdr VK Banga, Chairman, IPSC shared with everyone present the worthy credentials of Shri Badnore. Delivering the keynote address on the theme of the Conclave- Positive Progressive Partners-Soaring towards Excellence, Shri VP Singh Badnore focused primarily on a strong value system to be imparted to the student community. He made a fervent appeal to all IPSC Principals to devise ways to collaborate on common grounds. He said it was his earnest desire that all IPSC Member Schools have a Combined Entrance Examination for their students which will enable every good public residential school to have students of different areas and societies and which will ultimately be very beneficial for the students and the schools as the results in all fields will be very good. Having a Combined Entrance Examination will pave the way for a level playing field, he said. His Excellency also released IPSC souvenirs on the occasion. The students from the host school presented a spectacular cultural programme for the guests showcasing their talent. It was followed by another keynote address by General Bikram Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd), former Chief of the Indian Army & Chairman, Chiefs of Staff. Dwelling at length on what goes into the making of an ideal student, the General attributed his soaring high in life to his teachers at The Punjab Public School who were instrumental in inculcating in him a strong value system. Proposing a vote of thanks, Dr Jagpreet Singh, Headmaster, The Punjab Public School was quite sanguine about the churning out of the deliberations which will lead to taking important decisions directly affecting the future of school education in the country. Many notable personalities and leading educationists of the country delivered a number of talks in the afternoon. There were talks by Capt IJ Arora, Ms Priya and Ms Bhawna Paul on issues of vital importance to schools including menace of drugs. Mr Pramod Sharma moderated another session on “Sharing Good Practices in Respective Schools” in which Mr Matthew Raggett, Headmaster, The Doon School, Dehradun and Ms Nishi Mishra, Principal, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior shared good practices with the Member Principals. Mr RS Tanwar gave a presentation on Online GK Test.
Informally, the Conclave began in the evening on December 2, 2017 when the IPSC Executive Committee Members had a meeting chaired by Cdr VK Banga, Chairman, IPSC.
