Day-1 (June 13)
‘10% of your life is what happens to you and 90% of it is how you react to it.’
It started with a welcome address and guidelines for the symposium. Principal Ms Ambika Gulati spoke at length on the relevance of the theme. The school choir regaled everyone with its mellifluous notes with a video on the school. The first keynote speaker for the day Mr Patrick C Ehler set the tone for the symposium. He conducted a brief breathing session. He spoke on emotional intelligence, self-compassion, self-esteem and one’s belongingness to the world.
The second keynote speaker Ms Gulshan Kavarana made her session come alive by teaching the participants the sign language to communicate with the differently abled. It was enriched by barazas. Ms Rajbir Sandhu made the barazas real fun and enjoyable.
Day-2 (June 14)
The day started with a session on “Find your meaning” by Dr Gilda Scarfe. She set the ball rolling by posing basic questions: ‘Why do you go to school?’ and ‘Where is the need to learn?’. She also spoke about not holding on to your emotions but let go. She said filling your head with negative thoughts will make you burst one day. The participants were divided into different workshops, named Body positivity, Messy is beautiful, Baking the stressbuster, Septa well-being, to name a few. Besides, she discussed the need for a well-being schedule as it aids mental health and reduces stress levels. It was followed by baraza presentations. Every school performed brilliantly. The delegates had an interaction with the renowned television presenter Mr Gaurav Kapur. He called upon everyone to follow their curiosity. He emphasised the need to grab every opportunity and then figure it out. Given the common destiny, we all end up in the sea of death. We have to choose if we wish to be a drop from rain or drain.
